Priorities

What Rebecca will fight for in District 3

As a restaurant owner and longtime District 3 resident, Rebecca knows what Long Beach families and small businesses need. Her platform is built on real conversations with real neighbors.

Public Safety & Community Trust‍

Three fatal incidents near Second Street in under two years. Thousands of people on our streets at night, no patrol in sight. In 2025, 56 people died on Long Beach roads — the deadliest year in over a decade, and nearly double the 31 homicides citywide. Vulnerable road users — pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooter riders — were the majority of those killed. Yet residents and business owners are still waiting for a real public safety strategy. Rebecca will fight for a real police presence in our neighborhoods and a comprehensive safety plan that protects residents and businesses alike.

Fiscal Accountability

Long Beach is facing a $61.3M budget deficit right now, the latest sign that City Hall is not managing taxpayer money responsibly. Year after year, departments cite the same crises while the deficit keeps growing. Rebecca will demand transparent budgeting, real audits with consequences, and dollars that go to fixing the basics, not bloated overhead.

Infrastructure & Neighborhood Investment‍

The Colorado Lagoon Open Channel Project is District 3's largest infrastructure investment, and it's behind schedule and over budget. Meanwhile, the City spent $170M on streets and the auditor couldn't prove the work fixed anything. Rebecca will fight to finish the Lagoon restoration responsibly and demand accountability for every infrastructure dollar spent in our district.

Homelessness & Compassionate Solutions‍

3,595 neighbors experiencing homelessness in 2025 — up from 3,376 the year before. The city has spent over $130 million on homelessness response since 2020 — and the count keeps rising. LA County's numbers are going down. Long Beach's are going up. The city even returned a $5.6 million state Homekey shelter grant — with modular units sitting unused in storage. We need accountability, transparency, and solutions that actually work.

Local Business & Jobs

Nearly 400 storefronts sit empty across Long Beach. Legacy businesses are closing their doors. Rising rents, break-ins, and homelessness are driving away the small businesses that make our neighborhoods special. Rebecca built a restaurant during COVID with no corporate backing — she knows what it takes. She’ll cut red tape, streamline permitting, and fight to keep small businesses alive in District 3.
